I lived in Blandford Road from 1935 until I married in 1957 (except for a period of four years when we were bombed out). Sometime early in WW2 I seem to recall being told that a murder had been committed in a house either in Blandford Road itself or in one of the roads directly off it. If my memory serves me correctly, a soldier on leave had murdered his wife and the first anyone knew of it was when the twin children of the marriage were found wandering about in the road outside . Can anyone verify this story and maybe provide some details please? R. Beckett

Hi R. Beckett. Sorry no one seems to recall your query, but my grandfather lived at 135 Blandford Road at the time... his name was Cyrus FISK and the family were there between 1910 and 1939. Probably little or no help in your enquiry, but just thought I'd mention it in case the family name rings a bell with you. Pete Fisk
