My father served on Beckenham Borough Council from 1947 to 1951, I believe. Is there any way I can obtain copies of the election results, or anything at all to do with his service on the council?
Thank you.

There are two ways you can do this providing you can get to Beckenham or Bromley Library.
It will all be in the Beckenham Journal. Cllr Boyd Boyd was Mayor from Nov 1947 to May 1959 so the elections should be in Nov 1947 and then in May from 1949 onwards. The newspapers are on microfilm at Bromley library and in large books at Beckenham library up the stairs from the reference section.
There are also the Beckenham minutes that list all the councillors and what they served on. They are on the open shelves at Bromley library in the right hand corner of local studies floor. This would be the best bet!

Thank you. I don't know if I'll ever get to Beckenham or Bromley again.

If you give me your father's name (by PM if you prefer), I can tell you which committees he served on, but the Minutes rarely say exactly who was responsible for specific proposals.
