I am informed that before WWII Vera Welch lived and sang at the Pawleyne Arms in Penge High Street, but I have been unable to verify it.
She became quite famous when she adopted her mother's maiden name and perfomed as Vera Lynn.
Would anyone know of any reliable records that might refer to this?
Thanks

Does Dame Vera have her own web page, or is there a fan club where you might contact her to verify. As she lived East Ham (East London) until she married (WW2) is it really likely she would have lived at the Pawleyne Arms? I would have thought it more likely she may have sung there and maybe stayed overnight as she began her singing career in Working mens Clubs. Incidentally I understand that it was her maternal grandmothers maiden name which she adopted.
