Is the Fish and Chip shop still there on the corner of Churchfields Road? We used to go there in the late 1960s, but that was a looooong time ago I guess! Pete (Sorry to jump on your topic Historian, it just seemed right at the time... please delete if you wish!)

Wickham Fish and Chips 32, Glebe Way, West Wickham , BR4 0RL Very, very good. Eat in or take away. Tom Bell's opposite the Oakhill Tavern is also excellent. The one mentioned on the corner (almost!) of Churchfields Road used to be quite good many years ago.

Pete, the last time I looked it was a Chinese Take-Away. Thanks Historian, sorry for the late acknowlegment, I missed this. I can still recall rolling up outside there on my old BSA Gold Flash, bird on the back in a mini-skirt - all weathers, rain or shine! Great fish and chips from there, and my first introduction to Haddock & Chips, luxury dining compared to the age-old favourite Rock 'n' Six!!! Anyone remember what Rock 'n' Six was??? Ok, I'll answer this myself...! Rock 'n' Six was - a piece of Rock Salmon and six-penneth of chips. I think Rock Salmon may have been the cheap alternative to 'real' fish and chips, i.e., Cod or Haddock.

That's right Chezzie! We loved it too, and when we (me and my old mate Charlie) first came up here (aaaaggghhh, let me go HOME!) we went in the local chippy and asked for "Rock n six" and the bloke looked at us like were from outa-space! Then his mate turned round and said "I know where these two are from, Saarf London, give'em some real fish n chips!".To be honest, the fish up here is good but I often crave a bit of the old Rock. The good old days... Rock is catfish, I used to love it, one big bone and no small ones!
