The History of Beckenham Cricket Club written to celebrate the Centenary in 1966, mentions the club being allowed to play it's first season on the above-mentioned ground until moving to current home Foxgrove in 1867. Does anyone know where it was situated?

In the early part of 1866 Beckenham Cricket Club was formed, the first secretary was MR A.C.Wathen who one of the biggest land owners in Beckenham. Wathen lived in Beckenham lodge (on the land on the corner of Croydon Road and Beckenham Road, Cedars Road got it's name because all of the Cedar Trees).
Mr Peter Hoare of Kelsey gave the club permission to use the private cricket ground in Kelsey, this was on the flat area to the side where the cafe, putting green and tennis courts are today. The Club moved to Foxgrove the following year and has been there ever since.

Thanks for that. I often wondered if that part of the park was where the ground was as the old cafe looked very much like a cricket pavilion!
