This is a poem from Edyta M who visited Beckenham in October.
After visiting Beckenham a week ago I decided to write something about my
impressions. Maybe someone will be interested to add another section on this page
titled: "Beckenham in poems". Who knows?
„Searching for Peter or; a poem from Beckenham” for PF
In Village Way boys in their crimson jackets are hurrying for schools
Young and beautiful they are
Thinking of being somewhere else
What are their dreams - nobody cares?
Will they do something we’ll know tomorrow?
Only squirrels in Kelsey Park know and they feel a sorrow
In Eden Park Road boys with grey hair are digging in their gardens
Young and beautiful they were
Thinking of someone else or how the vegetable grows
What were their dreams - nobody knows?
Did they do something we’ll know tomorrow?
Only squirrels in Kelsey Park know and they feel a sorrow
In all those streets there was a boy befriended music and excited
Young and beautiful he was and is
Thinking of being somewhere else?
What were his dreams - nobody cares?
Will he remember the way to his house tomorrow?
Only squirrels in Kelsey Park know and they feel a sorrow
On the Kelsey Park bench I am watching the pond and the colours
People passing and saying “hello” to me
Telling of somewhere else or how their friend’s child grows
What are their dreams - nobody knows
Will all of them be the same tomorrow?
Only squirrels in Kelsey Park know and they feel a sorrow
EM
P.S. It seems to me that there is no evidence of Peter Frampton in Beckenham, even
though, he still creates and is an active artist (in the USA unfortunately). Did
everybody forget him...?
My kind regards to everyone from Beckenham.
