Hi, I am an A-level student conducting a report on gentrification in Beckenham and would like to ask permission for use of historical photos of The George Inn and Beckenham Pubic Hall. Use of the images is integral for completion of my Geography A-level course and will be confidential, seen only by myself and moderators of my work. Thank you! Yes no problem.

My sister mentioned to me recently that there was a Bruno Paloni in her class at school [whose parents owned the Button Factory] situated as far as we know in Maple Road just opposite Chalin Street where she was born, just prior to moving to Jasmine Grove. Subsequently there was talk of a fire occurring - does anyone remember the details of this establishment, location etc. and whether our memories are correct.? If you go here you will see images of the area and The Button Factory beckenhamhistory.co.uk/photo-gallery/#gallery/9__1597070211/3279/comments

I am trying to find out information about Avon House, Kimmerton (Kemerton?) road, Beckenham and the people who lived there, namely a Mrs Frieda (possibly not her full Christian name, or could be a shortened middle name) Moon, who resided there sometime during the 1950s-70s. I am unfamiliar with the area and have not found anything about Avon House or this road, but I wondered whether it was a misspelling for Kemerton Road. Any help/advice/pointers you or your members could offer would be very much appreciated. Hi, it is Kemerton Road. Im not sure if Avon house is still there. Has anyone, by any possible chance, got a photo of the old Victorian Vicarage circa 1878, of Holy Trinity Church, Lennard Road, Penge? I am an historian and have written a small church history of this church and would love a photo of the old vicarage which was demolished in 1963. Thank you here Try here beckenhamhistory.co.uk/imgallery/penge-6/

Hi. Former resident here - I lived at Cintra Park in Crystal Palace for most of the 1980s, and remember it fondly. I'm writing an article about the writer and actor Nicholas Stuart Gray, who lived in Anerley as a child. I don't suppose anybody here has any images of what the houses in Weighton Road, Anerley and/or Silverdale, Sydenham looked like circa 1910-1925? They don't have to be photographs of that period, just ones showing the houses that would have been there at the time, and which have since been pulled down. There are plenty of Sydenham and Anerley photos on the main website in photo gallery www.beckenhamhistory.co.uk/beckenham-photo-gallery

I wondered if anyone remembers an old shop in Chancery Lane? I used to go there as a young child in the late 1960s, it was called the Bluebird shop and had 100s of books! What happened to it and when did it close? Thanks. Have a look in the Image gallery at photo 84 beckenhamhistory.co.uk/imgallery/oakhill-and-foxgrove/

I'm doing some research around company sports clubs & I need some help We have identified 7 Sports Clubs on a map [circa 1939] under the name of AB Sports - two of these are in Beckenham They are; Beckenham, Monks Orchard, Beckenham, Ravensbourne, the others are Eltham, New Eltham Mottingham, Chapel Farm Edgware, Edgware Way Edgware, Honeypot Lane, Edgware, Spur Road Someone has suggested that AB Sports at Eden Park Hall, Croydon Road, Beckenham, was owned by Ernest Henry Aubrey and William Banfield & it is possible the club took its name from the initials of their surnames But it seems surprising that this same club would be big enough to have 7 grounds, 4 in SE London and 3 in NW London so there may be no connection. Can anyone help provide some background information Much appreciated Mw The Ground in Monks Orchard was in The Bethlem Royal Hospital. Eden Park Hall was in the grounds of Elmer Lodge. If you go to the website Britain From Above and search Beckenham you will be able to see them.
