Does anybody remember my dad, Richard Mann? he was a teacher at Alexandra Boys School which later moved to Beckenham from Penge and became Kelsey Park School.
Edited to correct his name it seems that the D word isn't allowed.

Dear Chezzie
Just come across this site and your enquiry, yes I remember you Dad, lovely guy who used to try and instil some culture into us heathens in his pottery classes, and I also remember you when you used to frequent the Phoenix Youth Club.
Hope all is well with you and your life, I guess your dad is not around now.
Best wishes
Roger

Your dad was my Art teacher in my last year at Kelsey Park. I always dreaded the pottery classes in my earlier years as he was so particular about cleaning tools etc...so when I found out he was to be my art teacher, I thought ''Oh No''; Instead he turned out to be the coolest inspirational teacher I ever had at that school. He used to take us around in his old battered P3 Rover to go sketching in Penge Market and told us to read Hilaire Hilers, Painters Pocket Book to read about light hitting an object theory... I even bought a copy! A nice guy!

Thank you for your kind words about my dad, good lord, you even remember me Constance 19!! The Phoenix, was that the one in the church in Penge? Yes, he died in 2010 at the ripe old age of 92. He loved making a difference and had a lot of successes, his funeral was packed with lots of 'old boys' talking about how he changed their lives, it was a great occasion with lots of laughs, especially the vicars face when they played a very risque Paddy Roberts song when his coffin came in! He wanted a happy funeral and he got one!
