Can anyone tell me when Arpley Road disappeared, I used to live there in the 50's I now live in Australia and am coming over for a visit this year. I gather Arpley road has been long gone. Does anyone know anything else about the street? We lived at 66. Val Hi Val, Just saw this, my Mum + Dad moved into no.66 in 1962 we moved out in 1970 when they were pulling the house's down. Arpley Road has gone long ago now car park and shops. Loved playing on the old bomb site and playing Football and cricket in the street, no one had anything but was sure a good place to be as a kid, can remember corner shop where you could buy a Penny drink and four for penny sweets. Bonfire night was great make a big bonfire, go guying outside the Pawlyne Arms and make a load of money for fireworks and annoy all the neighbor's. Made our own street Footfall team Wolves FC and played in the Shirley and District Football League even had own own Coach to travel to away games, Great Time.

Sorry that my message was a few years late.....my niece who works with somebody from Penge has only just passed it across! Hope you were not too disappointed with your visit as many things have changed. Incredibly the Saxby family lived at ......number 64! Being the second youngest I only know we were there when I was born but my elder sister does remember two families by the name of Bailey and Newman. We can all recall families of the Bakers, Morris, Norris, Poole, Read, Southby, Collet and Crawley. Also the various corner shops - there was an Odeon when we were there. The (mainly) Irish lodging houses were a bit scary as kids - apparently when they were demolished they found a gun. Hi, Again just seen this, my family lived at no.66 when i was aged 6 from 1962 to 1970, your surname sure rings a bell. Lived opposite the Cornville's and can remember a really nice elderly lady and son at no.68. ronofarrell@btinternet.com
